(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 25 - An elderly woman left in critical
condition after being stabbed by her husband on Sunday died
early on Monday morning, investigative sources have said.
77-year-old Manuela Bittante passed away at the Ca' Foncello
hospital in Treviso in the northern Veneto region.
She had returned home from hospital in a semi-vegetative state
on Saturday evening after suffering a stroke in July.
"I did it, for me the situation had become unbearable," said her
husband, 74, on turning himself in to carabinieri police
immediately after the stabbing.
The man was arrested and is now under pre-trial detention in
Treviso jail. (ANSA).
