(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 7 - Gian Paolo Montali, general manager of Italy's Ryder Cup 2023 project, said Wednesday that the September 29-October 1 even at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club outside Rome would leave a great legacy for Italy.
"The Ryder Cup is the third biggest sporting event in the world for media importance and the project which we have undertaken with the Italian Golf Federation and which concerns the whole country, from North to South, will not end in 2023 at the end of the challenge between Team Europe and Team USA, but in 2027," Montali said at the event "Rome And Great Sporting Events", organized by LUMSA University in the Italian capital.
"The Ryder Cup will leave a great legacy and heritage to Rome and Italy and represents a great engine for tourism.
"In a few months, in the Eternal City, 300,000 spectators from all over the wold will arrive to admire a global event".
Italian Golf Federation President Franco Chimenti's achievement in bringing the Ryder Cup to Rome "has been incredible," Montali added.
He said that the event would also be a "motor for Rome's bid to host Expo 2030". (ANSA).
