(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 29 - Some 288 migrants and refugees
arrived on Lampedusa in six separate landings on Monday after
being intercepted by coast guard and finance police patrols.
The arrivals came on the heels of four landings to a total of
130 people on Sunday.
The newest arrivals, mostly from Eritrea, Sudan, Ethiopia,
Burkina Faso, Mali, Bangladesh and Ivory Coast, said they had
departed from Sfax in Tunisia and from Zuwara in Libya.
They arrived on boats carrying a minimum of 19 and a maximum of
97 people. (ANSA).
