(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 28 - Pope Francis said on Pentecost Sunday that it was incredible the evil that men do in war.
"In the world today there is so much discord, so much division," he said in his traditional Sunday blessing on the day the Catholic Church commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ.
"We are all connected and yet we find ourselves disconnected from each other, anaesthetised by indifference and oppressed by loneliness. So many wars, so many conflicts: it seems incredible the evil that man can do!".
The Vatican has launched a peace initiative in Ukraine which has been welcomed by Moscow.
Kyiv has stressed that any settlement cannot mean accepting the cession of sovereign territories. (ANSA).
