Starchitect Cucinella to style Rome's first green architecture

Eco-project aims to become icon rivaling Milan's Vertical Forest

(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 27 - Starchitect Mario Cucinella is to design Rome's first foray into green architecture, the 'Fo.Ro.' Foresta Romana (Roman Forest) project that aims to vie with Milan's iconic Vertical Forest designed by another top archiect, Stefano Boeri.
The high-rise building, that is slated to go up on the Italian capital's southern fringe between via delle Sette Chiese and the artery that bifurcates the iconic Fascist-era EUR district, Via Cristoforo Colombo, is structured like a tree.
The lower floors will house offices and commercial spaces that root it to the ground, while the upper storeys will host the residences that make up the trunk and from which branch out the loggias with ample panoramic terraces that will be rich in vegetation, Cucinella says.
His website says the project aims to become "a symbol of contemporary architecture and regeneration in Rome", much as Boeri's building has become a futuristic landmark in the northern business capital. (ANSA).
