Anti-vax parents probed for denying COVID test to ill kid

On suspicion of attempted murder, test needed for hospital move

(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 27 - A couple of anti-vaxxers have been placed under investigation for attempted murder after denying permission for a COVID test necessary for moving their seriously ill child to another hospital where he would have received critical treatment, although he survived in the end, Corriere della Sera newspaper reported Saturday.
The anti-vax parents of the four-year-old boy, hospitalised for a serious illness, opposed the COVID test required to move him to another hospital, and have been placed under investigation for attempted murder, said the Milanese newspaper, Italy's biggest selling non sports daily.
The swab was reportedly necessary to allow the little boy to be moved to another facility, which, according to the doctors, was more likely to give him life-saving treatment.
The prosecutors therefore authorised the forcible taking of biological samples, which is allowed in cases under investigation, said the Corriere. (ANSA).
