(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 28 - The body of a dead woman migrant was
found on rocks on the southern Italian island of Lampedusa on
Tuesday.
The body of a woman, most probably a migrant, was found at Punta
Alaimo, Capo Grecale area, where the Lampedusa lighthouse
stands.
Some people from Lampedusa and a tourist noticed the body among
the rocks.
The harbour office was alerted, which in turn requested the
intervention of the fire brigade.
The body has not yet been recovered, but the fire brigade is at
work.
There is currently no certainty that it could be a victim of one
of two shipwrecks last Friday in the Maltese SAR (Search and
Rescue) area.
On the same day of that incident eight bodies were recovered,
including two women. (ANSA).
