(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 28 - Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani told
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on the phone Tuesday that
Italy and the US would collaborate closely on Tunisia in a bid
to stabilise the country and ward off a feared exodus of
migrants.
"Tunisia is a central actor for the security and stability of
the Mediterranean. Italy is ready, through ever closer
cooperation with EU countries and the United States, to
contribute to the stability of the country," Tajani told his US
opposite number.
"We must take joint action so that the main international
financial institutions can intervene to support Tunisia, which
in turn will have to embark, necessarily, on a path of
sustainable and effective reforms," Tajani added, referring to a
major IMF loan which is conditional on reforms in the north
African country. (ANSA).
