(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 16 - Italian police on Thursday averted clashes at Rome's Fiumicino Airport between Eintracht Frankfurt fans returning to Germany after their Champions League loss at Napoli, Lazio fans flying to the Netherlands for their Conference League last 16 tie with AZ Alkmaar, and AS Roma fans flying to Spain for their Europa League last 16 clash with Real Sociedad, Rome police said.
The Rome police headquarters said that upon the arrival of the Germans at the Roman airport, the security detail prevented the various groups of ultras, with the Lazio supporters heading to the Netherlands and the Roma supporters to Spain, from coming into contact.
The supporters of the two Roman teams, the police added, "wore dark-coloured clothing to disguise themselves in case of clashes". (ANSA).
