(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 9 - Italian Carabinieri police on Thursday
arrested 49 people in a major sweep against the Calabria-based
'Ndrangheta mafia, judicial sources said.
The suspects are alleged members of the historic 'Ndrangheta
Piromalli and Molè clans based in the Gioia Tauro area.
34 suspects have been placed under pre-trial detention and 15
under house arrest. (ANSA).
