(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 10 - Italy is ready to send SAMP-T surface
to air missiles with France to Kyiv to help Ukraine fend off
Russian missile barrages, Premier Giorgia Meloni said Friday.
"Absolutely, we have long been engaged in joint ventures" with
Paris "on a very important matter for Ukraine," she said in
answering a question after the EU summit in Brussels.
eI believe we are proceeding quickly and in the coming days we
will be able to announce it definitively," Meloni said,
confirming Rome's intention to send the missiles with Paris.
Ukraine has suffered a withering Russian missile barrage and
President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he needs the SAMP-Ts to
knock out incoming missiles before they can wreak untold havoc.
