(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 3 - Pope Francis said on arrival in South Sudan Friday on the second stage of his central African tour after the Democratic Republic of Congo that he was in the conflict-torn country as a pilgrim for peace and reconciliation.
"Here am I a pilgrim, and I pray that in this dear country, gift of the Nile, rivers of peace may flow; that the inhabitants of South Sudan, land of great abundance, may see reconciliation blossom and prosperity sprout", were the first words of Pope Francis in Juba, the capital of South Sudan.
He wrote them on the book of honour of the presidential palace where he will shortly address the authorities of the country (ANSA).
