(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 2 - Italy is to lead the EU's new mission
to Niger, the EU's Political and Security Committee (COPS) said
Thursday.
The EU Political and Security Committee (Cops) has given the
green light for the new European assistance measure for Niger,
within the framework of the European Peace Facility (EPF),
linked to the military partnership mission.
It is worth around EUR 40 million and Italy will be responsible
for implementing the measure through the Defence Industries
Agency (AID), ANSA learned from European diplomatic sources.
It is the first time that Italy would take on this role.
The command of the EU military mission should also go to Italy.
