(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 27 - Italy achieved a historic one-two in
the European figure skating championships in Finland Thursday
night with Sara Conti and Niccolò Macii taking the pairs gold
and Rebecca Ghilardi and Filippo Ambrosini bagging silver in an
event in which Russian athletes were excluded due to the Ukraine
war.
Italy's previous Euros best was a bronze for Stefania Berton and
Ondrej Hotarek in Zagreb in 2013.
Both couples said they were "thrilled" with their medals.
