Bolsonaro hasn't asked for Italian citzenship says Tajani

But some relatives have says Italy FM

(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 11 - Ex Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro has not asked for Italian citizenship, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Wednesday refuting media reports, but some of his relatives have.
    "The ex-president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, has not requested Italian citizenship, but I believe other relatives have asked for it, I don't know how the case has ended," Tajani told Radio Capital.
    The family of Bolsonaro's paternal grandfather come from near Padua, giving him a right to file for Italian citizenship.
    The far-right former president, 67, is currently in a Florida hospital with abdominal pains after supporters stormed government and judicial headquarters in Brasilia at the weekend.
    Tajani said "we are monitoring the situation in Brazil, we have followed with great concern and condemned what has happened, defending democracy and institutions, and we hope these violent phenomena are over.
    "People should protest in a democratic fashion, not by assaulting institutional buildings". (ANSA).
