(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 24 - The main parties supporting Premier
Giorgia Meloni's coalition government split on Thursday in a
European Parliament vote on Hungary.
MEPS from Meloni's Brothers of Italy (FdI) party and from Deputy
Premier Matteo Salvini's League voted against a resolution
calling on the European Commission and Council to resist
pressure from Hungary and go ahead with adopting the proposed
rule of law conditionality measures to suspend EU cohesion
funds.
The delegation from ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi's Forza Italia
(FI) voted in favour.
The resolution passed with 416 votes in favour, 124 against and
33 abstentions. (ANSA).
