Meloni tells Zelensky she's behind the Ukrainian people

Russian annexation of occupied areas has 'no value'

(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 5 - Brothers of Italy (FdI) leader Giorgia Meloni had a telephone conversation on Tuesday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and confirmed that the incoming Italian government will continue to support Kyiv following the Russian invasion, her party said in a statement.
Meloni is set to become Italy's first woman premier after FdI spearheaded the right coalition to victory in last month's general election.
In the call, Meloni recalled that FdI has supported Kyiv since the start of the war and confirmed "full support to the cause of liberty of the Ukraine people", the statement said.
She also reiterated her stance that Russia's declaration of the annexation of four Ukrainian regions has no political or legal value, according to the statement.
Meloni stressed she was committed to make "any diplomatic effort that contributes to the end of the conflict". (ANSA).
