Baby in hospital after being beaten by mum's partner

(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 3 - A 25-year-old man has been held and put under investigation by prosecutors in the northern city of Pavia for attempted homicide after allegedly beating his partner's eight-month-old baby girl with kicks, punches and slaps at the weekend.
    The child is beating treated at Bergamo's Papa Giovanni XXIII hospital.
    The hospital said late on Sunday that the girl was not in a life-threatening condition. (ANSA).
