(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 26 -

Italy "risks" with the general-election win of rightwing Brothers of Italy (FdI) candidate but there will be "no lurch into extremism" with the country's first woman premier and most rightwing government since WWII, the Financial Times said Monday.
"Likely victory for Italian right portends risks but no lurch into extremism," said the British business daily.

The New York Times said "Europe is gearing for another shift to the right" after the FdI leader's victory.
The BBC said "far-right Giorgia Meloni is poised to win the elections and is set to become the first female premier" while France Presse's bulletin said Meloni's "post-Fascist" party was leading the election race. (ANSA).
