(ANSA) - GENOA, SEP 22 - The 62nd Genoa International Boat
Show got underway on Thursday with the traditional flag-raising
ceremony, featuring a stirring rendition of the Italian national
anthem and a "passing visit" of the Italian Navy's Caio Duilio
destroyer.
Genoa Mayor Genoa Marco Bucci, Liguria Governor Giovanni Toti,
Transport Minister Enrico Giovannini and Tourism Minister
Massimo Garavaglia were among the officials taking part
Over 1,000 boats, including 168 new models, by over 900 brands
are on display at the fair, Europe's biggest boat show.
Bucci said an agreement has been reached to keep the show in
Genoa at least until 2034, adding that 200 more berths will be
available at the Waterfront di Levante site for the event next
year.
He said many firms were unable to present their vessels at the
show this year as the places had all been snapped up. (ANSA).
