(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 30 - A 28-year-old woman died in a Taranto
hospital Monday night after giving birth by caesarian section,
the local health agency (ASL) said Tuesday.
The baby girl is in good condition, it said.
The woman started haemorrhaging badly and underwent emergency
surgery but died of cardiac arrest, the SS. Annunziata Hospital
said.
She was in the 40th week of her first pregnancy and had been
hospitalised for premature rupture of her membranes.
After she asked to stop being induced to give birth, doctors
decided on a caesarian.
An autopsy has been ordered. (ANSA).
