(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 12 - Italy's double Olympic sprint gold medalist Marcell Jacobs will compete in next week's European championships in Germany, his coach Paolo Camossi said Friday.
El Paso born Jacobs, 27, who won the 100m and the 4x100m at Tokyo 2020 last year, "is running freely and enjoying himself" after having to pull out of last month's world championships in Eugene, Oregon, with a niggling injury, Camossi said.
"Training sessions have been more than satisfactory and if we are here in Munich it's because he is well and can compete." Jacobs will be bidding to repeat his Tokyo triumphs in the Bavarian capital.
The 100m semi-final is at 20:05 on Tuesday and the final at 22:15 the same night.
"I see a race that is substantially among four runners, Marcell has the best chance but the race can't be underestimated", said Camossi. (ANSA).
