Italian writer Raffaele La Capria dies aged 99

Author won 1961 Strega Prize with The Mortal Wound

(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 27 - Italy was mourning one of its top literary figures of the 20th century on Monday after Raffaele La Capria died at the age of 99 in Rome.
    La Capria won Italy's top literary award, the Strega Prize, in 1961 for his portrayal of his native Naples in The Mortal Wound (Ferito a Morte), a work that is now considered a classic.
    He was also the co-scriptwriter of several of Francesco Rosi's films, including Hands Over the City (Le Mani sulla Città, 1963), which won the Venice Film Festival's Golden Lion. (ANSA).
