(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 27 - Premier Mario Draghi has said he saw no "glimmers of hope for peace" in Ukraine from Russian President Vladimir Putin in a call he had with him on Thursday.
Draghi told a news conference that he called Putin in a bid to find a way to get some 22 million tonnes of grain out of Ukraine amid a Russian blockade on the country's Black Sea ports.
The premier said this blockage risks provoking a "food crisis that will have gigantic proportions and terrible humanitarian consequences in African countries". Putin said Russia was ready to help fight the food crisis sparked by the war in exchange for sanctions being revoked.
