(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 3 - Former Senator Denis Verdini's conviction for fraudulent bankruptcy in the case of local-newspaper publisher STE was upheld along with the related jail term of fives years, six months by a Florence appeals court on Tuesday.
The case is one of several faced by the 70-year-old, who was a close ally of ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi before he broke away from Forza Italia to form his own now-defunct party in 2015.
Verdini is currently serving a term of to six and half years in relation to the bankruptcy of the Credito Cooperativo Fiorentino bank.
On Tuesday the Florence appeals court also upheld a term of three years in relation to case for former MP Massimo Parisi.
