(ANSA) - ROME, APR 26 - 5-Star Movement (M5S) leader Giuseppe Conte said Tuesday its national council had decided against Italy sending military aid to Ukraine that exceeded the legitimate right to self defence enshrined in the Charter of Human Rights.
The M5S has opposed Rome's upping its military spending to 2% of GDP and sending more and more arms to Kyiv.
"The M5S opposes sending military and counter-offensive arms that exceed the perimeter of legitimate exercise of defence rights described in article 51 of the Charter of Human Rights", said Conte.
The populist party also wants Premier Mario Draghi and Defence Minister Lorenzo Guerini to report to parliament on the issue, Conte added. (ANSA).
