(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 14 - An Italian trapped in the Russian-occupied Ukrainian city of Kherson with his Ukrainian wife and 22-month-old daughter told ANSA Monday: "It's all blocked here, the city is surrounded, and if anyone tries to escape they shoot them".
Giovanni Bruno, 35, from Pozzallo in Sicily, said "we only go out to try to get basic necessities. But by now you can't find hardly anything any more, food and medicine are lacking".
Some 40 people, Italians and their Ukrainian family members, are trapped between Kherson and Nova Kachovka, 70 km to the east, Bruno said.
"We are in contact with the Italian foreign ministry in Rome, but for now there are no possibilities for evacuation". (ANSA).
