Cold snap splits Italy in two, fog in north, snow in south

Cold air from Balkans will sweep Italy this week

(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 24 - An Arctic cold snap has broken Italy in two with fog in the north and snow in the centre and south, weathermen said Monday.
The white stuff has fallen over low ground in central and southern regions, while traffic in the north has been snarled by banks of low fog.
Meteorologists at 'iLMeteo.it' said icy air from the Balkans will continue to move into Italy along with an anticyclone that will affect northern areas, bringing more stable weather.
"Italy will continue to be frosty, but again split in two," they said.
In central and southern Adriatic regions, they said, there will be more snow on even lower ground while the northern plains will continue to be shrouded in fog, along with some interior regions of the centre. (ANSA).
