(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 17 - Villagers near La Spezia have got compensation for the noisy toilet of one of their neighbours, the Genoa edition of La Repubblica daily said Monday.
"If the flush is too noisy it violates the right to rest of neighbours, who must be compensated," said the supreme Court of Cassation.
Four brothers who own the toilet in Golfo dei Poeti were ordered to pay compensation of 500 euros per year starting in 2003.
The toilet was fitted behind an extremely flimsy wall and so its flush disturbed the neighbours unduly and unreasonably, the Cassation Court ruled.
It said the thunderous flush amounted to unacceptable noise puollution.
