(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 13 - Serie A champions Inter have bagged the first trophy of the season by beating Juventus 2-1 in the Italian Super Cup thanks to Alexis Sanchez's winner in the last minute of extra time.
The annual match between the league champions and the Italian Cup winners had looked set for penalties until the Chilean forward capitalized on a defensive blunder by Juve's Alex Sandro.
Regulation time finished 1-1 after a penalty by Inter's Lautaro Martinez cancelled out Weston McKennie's opening goal.
Inter are currently top of Serie A with 49 points and a game in hand while Juve are 11 points behind in fifth place. (ANSA).
