League treasurer, IV Senator indicted in Rome stadium graft

Allegedly took kickbacks from businessman Parnasi

(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 24 - League treasurer Giulio Centemero and centrist Italia Viva (IV) Senator Francesco Bonifazi were indicted Wednesday in a probe into suspected corruption surrounding plans to build a new soccer stadium for AS Roma.
    They are accused of illegal party funding in accepting allged kickbacks from prominent Roman businessman Luca Parnasi.
    The trial start date was set at December 21.
    The former chair of Rome city council, Marcello De Vito, was among another 12 people sent to trial in the same case.
    The Roma stadium plans have been shelved.
    But there are plans to revive them in another part of Rome.
