(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 2 - Pope Francis said on a visit to a French military cemetery in Rome Tuesday that the tombs were "crying out for peace" and for a halt to arms makers.
"These tombs are a message of peace: stop brothers and sisters, stop makers of arms, stop!" said the pope in a homily at Mass.
"These tombs are crying out for peace," he said.
"Are we fighting hard enough to make sure there are no more wars, that there are no economies bolstered by the weapons industry?" he asked.
The pope also said that soldiers who have died in wars are "with the Lord".
In other remarks, Francis said that child labour was a "scourge" and that children must be protected from it. (ANSA).
