(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 26 - Investing in schools is an act of social justice, Premier Mario Draghi said on his first institutional visit as premier to the poorer south of Italy on Tuesday.
"My commitment is to follow your ambitions," the premier told students at a technical high school (ITS) in Bari.
Announcing that the government was putting one and a half billion euros into an ITS reform, Draghi said that delays on spending were "a tax on young people's futures".
Draghi encouraged his young listeners, telling them "it's up to you to transform Italy".
He also stressed the importance of removing obstacles to female talent.
Draghi was accompanied by Bari Mayor Antonio Decaro, also president of Italian municipalities association ANCI, and Puglia Governor Michele Emiliano, among others. (ANSA).
