(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 20 - Noemi Di Segni, the president of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities (UCEI), on Wednesday called on Lazio to clamp down on Fascists.
The move comes after a video went viral showing the handler of Olimpia, the eagle who flies around the Stadio Olimpico before the start of the Rome club's games, doing a Fascist salute to shouts of 'Duce Duce'.
"The can be no ambiguity or hesitation before the ostentation of gestures and symbols that re-invoke Fascist ideals," Di Segni said.
"The behaviour of the handler of the eagle Olimpia, Lazio's symbol, immortalized in a video that went viral, leaves no room for doubt.
"The club and the (Italian Soccer) Federation must intervene with the utmost urgency.
"Fascists and haters must be kicked out of the world of football". (ANSA).
