Mystery of 'Lost Leonardo' shown at Rome film fest

(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 20 - The mysterious history of Leonardo da Vinci's 'lost' Salvator Mundi, bought by self-styled 'sleeper hunter' Alexander Parish for just $1,175 in New Orleans in 2005 and reportedly by Saudi Prince Mohammed Bin Salman for a world record $450 million at a 2017 Christie's auction in London, is told in a new documentary now showing at the Rome Film Festival.
    The art-historical thriller titled The Lost Leonardo', by Andreas Koefoed, was recently applauded at Robert De Niro's Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
    It is a goose-bumpy one hour and 40 minute ride though the global art market, which one expert interviewed says "is after drugs and prostitution the most profitable in the world".
