COVID-19: All of Italy's regions now low risk - report

Rt down to 0.78, incidence drops to 66

(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 21 - Italy's COVID-19 Rt reproduction number has stayed on a downward trend, according to the latest weekly coronavirus monitoring report, dropping to 0.78 from 0.86 last week.
    Friday's report said the incidence had fallen to 66 cases for every 100,000 inhabitants, compared to 96 last week.
    It said all of Italy's regions and autonomous provinces can now be considered low risk, with Rt numbers below 1.
    An Rt above 1 indicates that the epidemic is in a phase of expansion.
    The report said the proportion of intensive-care places occupied by COVID patients was now below the critical threshold of 30% in all of Italy's regions.
    The number of coronavirus patients in intensive care in Italy dropped from 2,056 on May 11 to 1,689 n May 19.
    The proportion of intensive-care places occupied by COVID patients nationwide is now 19%. (ANSA).
