(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 10 - Gianni Rezza, the health ministry's
prevention director, said Friday that the Rt reproduction number
for the coronavirus has gone over 1 in several Italian regions
due to imported cases.
He was commenting on the weekly monitoring report of the
ministry and the Higher Health Institute (ISS) for the June
29-July 5 period, which put the Rt rate over 1 in five regions:
Emilia Romagna and Veneto (1.2), Tuscany (1.12), Lazio (1.07)
and Piedmont (1.06).
Rezza put this down to "some outbreaks, of varying levels of
seriousness, due to the importation of infection from abroad.
"It is necessary to reinforce social-distancing measures, with
the awareness that the national health system is capable of
identifying and containing these outbreaks". (ANSA).
