14 arrested in illegal waste trafficking

(ANSA) - MILAN, JUL 2 - Italian police on Thursday arrested 14 people over suspected illegal waste trafficking in the northern region of Lombardy.
    The suspected gang allegedly trafficked ferrous material abroad, police said.
    Police seized some 15 million euros in assets.
    The illicit traffic was "principally in scrap iron", police said.
    The gang also operated in Hungary and Croatia, police said.
    Some 28 people were placed under investigation in all. (ANSA).
