(ANSA) - Rome, April 5 - The Civil Protection Department said Sunday that 15,887 people have died in Italy after contracting the coronavirus, up 525 with respect to Saturday.
That compares to 681 COVID-19 deaths on Saturday and it is the lowest daily rise since March 19.
The rise in the number of infected was 2,972, taking the total up to 91,246.
That was relatively steady with respect to Saturday’s rise of 2.886.
The department said 21,815 people have recovered in Italy after contracting the coronavirus, up 819 compared to Saturday.
The total number of cases in Italy, including the deceased and those who have recovered, is 128,948.
