(ANSA) - Washington, October 17 - Foreign Minister Luigi Di
Maio said Thursday the government was "against an escalation of
tariffs (between the US and Italy) and we encourage negotiated
solutions to avert measures that would damage both our
economies".
Speaking at a forum at the Italian embassy titled A Common
Future: the United States and Italy, organised by the Council
for Relations between the US and Italy, Di Maio stressed the
importance of avoiding a trade war.
His appeal came on the eve of the entry into force of US
tariffs after the World Trade Organization ruling on excessive
state aid to Airbus.
