(ANSA) - Naples, May 16 - Protesters including Salvatore Daniele, brother of the late Neapolitan singer-songwriter Pino Daniele, hung banners on Thursday protesting a visit to Naples by Italian Interior Minister and Deputy Premier Matteo Salvini, leader of the anti-migrant Euroskeptic League party.
Daniele hung a banner from the balcony of his Naples home that read: "This League is shameful, even my brother Pino used to say so".
"A minister who wears (military and police) uniforms, straps on machine guns, and is against foreigners isn't worthy of this name," Daniele said.
Protest banners were also on display for Salvini's visit on Thursday to an election rally in another southern town, Potenza, where a League candidate is running for mayor.
Three protest banners hung in front of a hotel there, one of which read: "Take these down too".
Police have removed anti-Salvini banners at several recent events, sparking freedom of expression protests.
