(ANSA) - Rome, April 18 - The Italian economy returned to
growth at the start of the year, the Bank of Italy said
Thursday.
"According to our estimates in the winter months economic
activity started growing again," the central bank's economic
bulletin said.
The bulletin spoke of a "slight recovery" from the technical
recession in the second half of 2018, the report said.
"The modest drop in employment, which in the autumn quarter
reflected a phase of cyclical weakness, appears not to have
continued in the two-month period of January and February".
