(ANSA) - Rome, April 18 - Almost 303,500 applications for the
government's new 'citizenship wage' basic income have come from
the south of Italy, or 62% of the total, INPS said Thursday.
These citizens will receive their first payments in June, the
pensions and social security agency said.
The total applications so far has been 488,000, INPS said.
Some 90,177 basic income cards will be distributed in
Campania, the region around Naples, INPS said.
Sicily comes second with 87,775.
Naples is the city with most accepted applications, 52,717,
and on its own surpasses the northern regions of Lombardy
(37,152) and Veneto (13,266).
