Julie Andrews to be awarded Venice career Golden Lion

(ANSA) - Venice, March 8 - The Venice International Film Festival said Friday that Julie Andrews will be awarded Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement when the event takes place for the 76th time this year, from August 28 to September 7. "I am so honored to have been selected as this year's recipient of the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement," said the British actress, the star of classics including Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music. "The Venice Film Festival has long been recognized as one of the world's most esteemed International Film Festivals. "I thank La Biennale for this acknowledgement of my work and I look forward to being in that beautiful city in September for this very special occasion".
