(ANSA) - Rome, March 6 - A bill expanding the right to legitimate self-defence against intruders moved from the House to the Senate on Wednesday.
The bill, backed by Interior Minister and League leader Matteo Salvini, passed by 373 votes to 104 with two abstentions.
The bill will start its third reading in the upper house on March 26.
The bill, fashioned by Salvini, will introduce norms similar to US 'stand your ground' laws.
Salvini recently made a controversial jail visit to a businessman serving four and a half years for forcing a burglar to kneel and then shooting him in the chest.
