(ANSA) - Trieste, February 26 - Fincantieri CEO Giuseppe Bono said Tuesday that he was hopeful the Italian group's takeover of French shipbuilder Chantiers de l'Atlantique will happen. The European Commission has opened a probe after France and Germany had asked it to look into whether the takeover could harm competition on the shipbuilding market.
"We will work with the EU to configure the acquisition and accelerate the process, which we are confident will come to a positive conclusion," Bono said in a conference call with analysts.
"We are confident that our arguments will be given the just consideration and this will enable us to create the Airbus of the seas".
