(ANSA) - Rome, February 22 - Students across Italy took to
the streets on Friday to protest against the new high-school
graduation exam 'maturità' and the regionalization of education.
"Regionalization without a national law on the right to
education is an effort of the League", the ruling party together
with the 5-Star Movement (M5S), and ignores lack of funding for
public schools and "confirms the government's betrayal towards
us", said the national coordinator of the Students' Union Giulia
Biazzo.
Students in cities including Rome and Milan are protesting
also against a reform of the high-school graduation exam with
the introduction of a new Invalsi test, the elimination of a
thesis and the central role given to traineeships, Biazzo said.
