Businessman Bigotti nabbed for corruption

Ex ENI technician also implicated.

(ANSA) - Messina, February 22 - Italian tax police from Messina on Friday arrested Piedmontese businessman Ezio Bigotti on suspicion of corruption.
    Bigotti is president of the STI management and investment group and has won numerous contracts from civil service procurement agency CONSIP.
    Also arrested was Massimo Gaboardi, a former petrochemicals technician for state fuels group ENI.
    The two men are accused of corruption in judicial acts and false statements made by a public official.
    Bigotti allegedly paid former Siracusa prosecutor Giancarlo Longo 20,000 euros to shelve a tax case against him.
