(ANSA) - Strasbourg, January 17 - MEPs from Italy's 5-Star Movement (M5S) on Thursday criticised the salaries of European commissioners, calling them "exorbitant" and a "slap in the face of more than 100 million in poverty". MEP Ignazio Corrao said Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker's salary, at 27,436.90 euros per month, is 138% higher than what the highest Commission official makes. He said EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini makes 25,845.35 per month, while 2commission vice presidents make 24,852.26 per month, and commissioners make 22,852.26 per month.
