Cops up heat on suspects probed for hiding Messina Denaro

(ANSA) - Rome, December 11 - Carabinieri police in Trapani conducted a search operation on Tuesday involving 25 suspects who are under investigation for allegedly helping top Mafia fugitive Matteo Messina Denaro evade capture. Police also arrested a suspected member of the Mazara del Vallo mafia clan who is under investigation for mafia association, fraudulent money transfer, and violating the conditions of a special supervision measure.
    The operation involved about 200 police officers and is one phase of an ongoing manhunt to find Messina Denaro, which involves a strategy of gradually weakening his power structure and draining economic resources from his criminal organisation.
